The Ugly Truth

Everyone is well aware of the death of Michael Brown and everything with Ferguson. Personally, my opinion may not be what everyone wants to hear. It's kind of an ugly truth I suppose. The entirety of this case is that it has turned into a "racial" thing. That's the ugly truth here. Nobody is really caring that somebody has died; it's turned into a fact that it was a white police officer that "murdered" a black teenager. The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that people are being slammed and bashed for having an opinion on this trial. I've personally seen people attacking people personally and not their argument. That is not how you debate and if anyone attended a public speaking class, I'm sure they'd be well aware of this. Just because I'm a white female saying that I agree with the decision I'm automatically called a "racist" and other rude names. That's not fair at all. My take on it goes from the standpoint of that I DO NOT CARE what race you are. If you're partaking in criminal/suspicious activity, you better expect that you will get police confrontation and something will be done about it. Do I believe that Wilson should've fired at Brown 12 times? No, I don't think anyone should be shot at that many times if they start to surrender. But, if a man whom is bigger than me physically, because that is what he is, he is not a "little kid" as some people were saying; came running at me, then you better believe that I will point my gun at you and take you down. Not because I want to, but because I'm ensuring that I'm going back to my family at the end of the night. The people of Ferguson looting their communities, burning the American flag and whatnot is not a "protest". They're acting like animals out there and that is the most pointless thing of all. What do you gain by ruining your own community? They're not going back on the decision. This entire thing has just turned into a huge racial issue that causes escalating debates, rude comments, and ridiculous fights. I don't bash anyone for their opinion, so I expect the same. I repeat that I do not feel offended by anyone's opinions because that's how they feel about the case and I really respect that. Don't make rude comments either because everyone is entitled to an opinion. There is no need to get defensive over a case you cannot change.

The only thing this Frat House will take a shot of; is Grief

Unfortunately, Nolan Burch, graduate of Canisius high school and University of West Virginia student passed away November 12th. His family decided two days later to take him off of life support, in which he passed on shortly after. The first responders at the scene notified that Nolan was unresponsive and not breathing. Before the "tragic catastrophic medical emergency" occurred, he tweeted earlier in the day, "It's about to be a very eventful night to say the least." Who would've thought that the 18 year old freshman would be prophesizing his own demise?
Nolan was described as a "fun-loving" guy and very social. The people with the bubbly personalities are usually the ones who go on to college and decide to join fraternities and sororities. A lot of college students drink and go out. It's just what they do. Especially when they're dorming and living on their own. People in high school do the same; going out on weekends and partying thinking nothing will ever happen. I was once like that too. I just didn't care and I went out and did what I wanted not thinking that anything would ever happen to me. Kids abuse alcohol all of the time. Just take a look at social media. There's enough embarrassing, drunk and sloppy pictures to go around. I'm quite happy that I got out of that. It's sad to say that some people take drinking to the extreme limits and the people that they "party" with, let them do it. Those people in the frat house are all enablers. They enable people to exceed their "limit" and that's when things like this happen. If the person drinking and their friends came up with a limit as to how much they would let each other drink that night, maybe this wouldn't have happened. I wasn't there so I couldn't tell you if that would even work.
The part that gets to me the most is the fact that the Kappa Sigma fraternity wasn't even recognized as a "frat" at WVU. Burch was pledging for the fraternity and that's probably where the problem started. For years in high schools (around the 80's) and in colleges, frats and sororities would pledge people to join and those people would have to go through a series of "activities" I suppose, that involved them doing things that would either hurt/make sick, embarrass themselves, or benefit the group. This could possibly be the reason for him excessively drinking that night. Could it have been the freeing and partying effects of college, or was it to get the "in" with the Kappa Sigmas?

Would you like the "Ball and Chain" with those handcuffs?

Someone's crazy in love...

Charles Manson, the infamous cult creator and murderer, whom is now 80 years old, as gotten his marriage license recently. Manson is "enagaged" to a 26-year-old psychotic female named Afton Burton, (now known as Star), who believes that she will be able to get Manson out of prison. The biggest joke of all is stating that he had nothing to do with the serial murders in August 1969. I've never heard of a more ridiculous thing. Manson is serving a lifetime sentence and the fact that a girl, whom hasn't even lived out her 20's yet, is getting married to one of the most atrocious beings that has ever walked this Earth. If you are not familiar with Charles Manson's cult, you may be more familiar with the murder of Sharon Tate, the 8 and a half-month pregnant model. She was murdered in her home along with four others by what was known as the "Manson Family."
This girl may thing that Manson is this (sickening) sweet man, that loves her, and does whatever makes her so about it; but I will bet on anything this is some ploy. I never put anything past anyone, and I would never put anything especially past this man. Burton should be aware of how cynical and masochistic this man is. I can't help but be fascinated by both of their minds. Could it be an adrenaline rush to Burton, to be engaged to a sociopath? I guess we will never know. I would think he would rather be hearing the rattling gates of Hell before he's hear the chime of wedding bells.

We Are the Avatar

For those who are not familiar with my term of "avatar", it is not the term that I'm using to describe some picture or person as a video game character. "Avatar" means that it is a manifestation of a deity or released soul in bodily form on earth. In the news, they've recently discovered that plants have their own "internet highway" in the form of mycelia. Mycelia are in the bottom parts of fungi, informally known as a mushroom. These little "wires" connect all plants together in helping create benefits for both the plants and fungi. Ever hear of the movie Avatar? James Cameron, the creator of the movie, portrays this land in which every living thing is connected. From the plants, to the animals, to the avatars. In reality, this entire concept may not be so far fetched. All of the plant organisms are connected; both now and in the movie. The plant organisms all communicate together by "some kind of electro-chemical communication between the roots of trees" . Today, plants are doing the exact same thing. They are working together, these little mycellium are spread throughout the soil. We are all aware that plant life is actually alive; but not so much in the sense that it can communicate with other plant life and connect with other plants. Sounds more like a weird dating site than it does as a "wood wide web." So, the question we ask ourselves is, are we the avatar? Are we just a more complex version of the plant? They do the same as we do, breathe, consume some sort of nutrition, and now they communicate. Maybe we are reincarnated into plant life. That is the point of the "avatar". Watch the movie and then compare; I could be blogging something that's either a "weeded" truth, or a "mossy" theory.

McConnell's Gun grabbing, Coal bashing, Republican-having, Kentucky

After the elections yesterday, Mitch McConnell took the win. Alison Grimes stated that it was "worth the fight" against the long time-leading senator of Kentucky. If you've been following my blog lately, we all know that the Kentuckians were in a bind; not knowing whether they wanted to stick with McConnell's ways or to take a chance on the inexperienced Democrat with a somewhat promising future. It is a known fact that McConnell's main argument was turning Grimes into an "Obama" puppet for Kentucky. He created arguments against Grimes that were popular with Kentucky. For example; that Grimes was against the coal (a huge part of Kentucky's economy) and gun rights (Grimes interestingly enough retaliated against). So, I guess it's all about what you know about your state to gain the win. After being in the Senate for so long, McConnell definitely had the advantage. But, kudos to Grimes for putting up a riling and amusing fight against him. Someone whom is nowhere near close to his experience definitely showed some determination on her part. It appears now that Republicans are now the majority of the Senate. The new posed question is, will Obama be as excited about this new majority as they are?

Oh McConnell, You Can Do Better Than That!

McConnell appears to be scrounging for any argument to pin Alison Grimes as Obama. He just repeats the same argument using different assertions about her. Maybe he's just a bit scared that a Democrat is rising to the occasion against him. The south appears to be a bit warmer now that the feud between the two is becoming personal. Mitch McConnell went as far as to create his argument against Grimes to target her father, a restaurant owner whom gives his employees a "low wage". Sure, that was definitely a dig towards her but she retaliated with one of her own. She argued that McConnell "will say anything" to get elected. This is quite true actually; McConnell has said a lot of things that haven't really helped himself during his campaigning. What McConnell had was an ad hominem against Grimes. He was attacking her personally, and not debating the issues she was giving. Seems to me that McConnell in running into a corner and only spewing out what he thinks will save that nice cozy senate seat for himself.

Hail to another era of McConnell

It seems to be that the Republicans will be winning this election. Grimes held up a great fight against now majority leader, Mitch McConnell. McConnell has a strong lead of four points-ahead of Alison Grimes. The gender gap has now vanished between the two seeing as McConnell is gaining votes from both men and women. Howard Koplowitz of the International Business Times wrote, "Not only does McConnell still attract support from many more Democrats than Grimes receives from Republicans, but the gender gap has pretty much vanished with McConnell now leading Grimes among both men and women.”
So, McConnell pretty much has the senate seat to call his own (again).
It's not only midterms for Kentucky; it's midterm elections for many states in the US. Go out and vote to show your support for your candidate. Good luck to all those running.
