McConnell's Gun grabbing, Coal bashing, Republican-having, Kentucky
After the elections yesterday, Mitch McConnell took the win. Alison Grimes stated that it was "worth the fight" against the long time-leading senator of Kentucky. If you've been following my blog lately, we all know that the Kentuckians were in a bind; not knowing whether they wanted to stick with McConnell's ways or to take a chance on the inexperienced Democrat with a somewhat promising future. It is a known fact that McConnell's main argument was turning Grimes into an "Obama" puppet for Kentucky. He created arguments against Grimes that were popular with Kentucky. For example; that Grimes was against the coal (a huge part of Kentucky's economy) and gun rights (Grimes interestingly enough retaliated against). So, I guess it's all about what you know about your state to gain the win. After being in the Senate for so long, McConnell definitely had the advantage. But, kudos to Grimes for putting up a riling and amusing fight against him. Someone whom is nowhere near close to his experience definitely showed some determination on her part. It appears now that Republicans are now the majority of the Senate. The new posed question is, will Obama be as excited about this new majority as they are?
